One last post, in English this time…
I don’t really know where to start honestly. These last couple of days have been a crazy rollercoaster of feelings and emotions…
As I said in the previous post, nothing was happening here in Linköping until Wednesday. Before there wasn’t any problem in my region, but of course that changed very fast.
On Thursday we had to say goodbye to Meghan and Matthew, our 2 American friends.
It felt unreal that they were leaving in such a short time and we had to rush our goodbyes. I think our whole group cried that whole day almost and we came together to spend quality time. Since everything was so rushed we all helped out in cleaning and packing and whatsoever. Because we, the rest of the group, thought we were staying a while longer, me as well.
On Saturday morning we said goodbye to Hilary, another friend that was leaving…
Our group started to shrink and we knew it was only going to be a matter of time until we were sent home as well…
As my dad and Caroline arrived here on Friday evening I of course spent some time with them. On Saturday, I showed them my city, the old town, Vallastaden, …
We had a lot of conversations about what I should do during this crisis time.
I decided I was going to stay until Sweden and mainly our school was going to act. Because as long as there wasn’t really a problem to still go to my classes, go out, travel in Sweden, … I didn’t see why I should go home. Even though I’d rather be with family in times like these.
I even told my dad I was going to take care of the stuff that my friends had to leave, that I was going to try and sell them to the second hand store, or give them to goodwill.
Saturday night I thought to myself ‘maybe, I should just start packing a little, just in case.’ and 5 minutes later I receives a phone call from my college…
My teacher told me that because of the negative travelling advise they ask everyone to come back…
This came as a shocker of course…
So unfortunately, also my Erasmus has come to an end.
I truly hope that the situation will get better soon and that I can return here again.
I leave on Wednesday together with my dad, stepmom and Sofie (my friend, and fellow Belgian).
The last days here I try to spend as much quality time with everyone.
I try to enjoy and show dad and Caroline around, but I also take opportunities to see my friends and say goodbye to them.
Because of the fact that I am still being very close with my friends, that I go out and see cities here, I WILL do some self-isolation because I don’t want to bring anyone that I love in danger…. Even though that hurts me so much.
I looked forward to see mom, Julie, Arthur, ….. and now I am not even allowed to be around people I love.
I also want to tell you guys how I really FEEL about this.
In one of my first blogs I wrote how hard it was for me in the beginning.
I had a really tough time adjusting myself, being on my own, having so much spare time, ….
I spent a lot of time alone and feeling sad.
I only just started to really feel AMAZING. At the end of February I started to surround myself with people I met here and I grew so close to them…
I let myself down in this part, because I took the first month for granted and now I already have to leave…
I know for a fact that I will fall into a big black hole when I get back home, because I am going to go thru the exact same thing. Being alone, being bored, don’t have anything to do… and that makes me really scared and sad.
So call me, facetime me, write me cards, I don’t know, but if you can cheer me up, do so 😊😊
I am so sorry that I didn’t enjoy this experience from the moment it started until when it ended…
I hope that I can come back to Linkoping very soon and that I can finish the semester there or at least online.
It’s a lot I know and I didn’t even tell every feeling because I have too many right now.
Sending love to you all and stay safe and healthy 💖
